The impossible became possible!
This is how 2023 year can be characterized.
Ukraine increased gas production in the second year of the large-scale war. It seems there are no similar examples in the world, as there are no parallels to the scale of Russian military aggression.
Under daily bombardments, gas producers drilled wells, conducted workovers, carried out seismic surveys, mitigated the consequences of attacks, and planned new projects. Even when missiles and drones were hitting the facilities or falling nearby, no one thought of stopping. On the contrary, they strived to work even more diligently and persistently to supply the country with gas and strengthen our energy security.
Now, every Ukrainian can feel these efforts. For the first time in the years of independence, we are going through the heating season exclusively with domestically produced gas and doing it quite successfully, considering that winter is already behind. Producers and energy workers, once again prove that Russian terror cannot break us because light always overcomes darkness.
Despite the war risks, Ukraine has become reliable for storing European natural gas. Throughout the year, foreign traders injected 2.5 bcm of the resource into our UGS, demonstrating partners’ high trust in the gas infrastructure of a country at war.
Owing to a special operation by the Main Intelligence Directorate, Ukraine regained control over drilling platforms in the Black Sea, which had been under Russian occupation since 2014. After the full-scale invasion, the terrorists used them as a military base for controlling the waters and airspace. The successful operation of Ukrainian soldiers once again proves that our country fights to the last for what belongs to us and will inevitably reclaim it.
These are just a few events from the past year. But all of them are extremely important for our state today, as well as in the future.
The impossible became possible due to Ukrainians’ courage, bravery, and professionalism. Above anything else, owing to those boys and girls who protect the land, hold the sky, and allow us to work.
