Russia is losing its positions in the gas market. Which countries will become the new fuel suppliers to Europe in the nearest years?
Russia's gas war against the European Union, constant blackmail, and manipulations have produced results. However, they are not the ones the Russians dreamed of.
According to the European center Bruegel, the share of Russian gas in EU imports decreased from 41% to 19% year-on-year, while the share of liquefied natural gas increased from 17% to 34%.
In 2022, the European Union became the world's largest LNG buyer, surpassing former leaders China, Japan, and South Korea.
Russian gas exports have decreased by a record 46%. According to the International Energy Agency's forecasts, supplies of fossil fuels from
Russia will never return to pre-war levels. Instead, EU countries are looking for new suppliers in Africa.
