During a broadcast on Pryamyi TV channel, Artem Petrenko, Executive Director of the Association of Gas Producers of Ukraine, emphasized that Ukraine has not only preserved its production sector during the war, but companies have even managed to increase output. Today, the entire industry is working at full capacity to ensure continued gas supply for the country.
«Only the development of domestic gas production and full self-sufficiency in natural gas can guarantee 100% energy security for the state», noted the AGPU’s Executive Director.
He outlined three key factors that determine the development of the gas production industry:
- Security situation. Unfortunately, Russian attacks - including on gas production infrastructure - are ongoing and continue to affect output. However, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are doing everything possible to minimize the consequences.
- Stability of operational rules and taxation. Predictability is essential for continued investment. Companies investing in a high-risk business like gas production must be confident in the stability of the regulatory system in order to plan long-term.
- Clear market conditions for the private sector. Gas trading in Ukraine should develop and scale. A broader buyer base, successful trading sessions, and long-term purchasing strategies are the factors that will allow producers to sell their gas at competitive prices.
