Synergy of state and business efforts

Despite continued attacks by Russian terrorists on the sector's infrastructure, state and private companies are working diligently and exerting maximum efforts to preserve the industry and ensure Ukraine's gas supply. This was emphasized by Artem Petrenko, the Association's Executive Director, during a meeting with private producers and the management of Naftogaz.

"We are recording a positive trend in increasing gas production in state-owned companies and a halt in the negative dynamics among private ones. We expect that by the end of the year, the overall production volumes will remain at the level of 2022. At the same time, our previous forecast suggests that independent companies will return to the trend of increasing gas production in the coming year," said the head of AGPU.

He also added that the constructive dialogue with Naftogaz and the established partnership, which began several months ago, have yielded concrete results. In particular, the purchase of gas from Ukrainian origin on the licensed commodity exchange is an effective and essential mechanism to support companies and serves as an indicator for royalty payments every month.

The Chairman of NJSC "Naftogaz of Ukraine," Oleksiy Chernyshov, stated that the position of private producers, who continued to invest in the industry despite the war, as well as the correct interaction with them, allowed not only to increase gas production but also to inject a record amount of gas into underground storages.

"As we agreed, NJSC "Naftogaz of Ukraine" fulfilled its commitments made in April during the previous meeting by restarting the full operation of the Ukrainian Energy Exchange. We've rebooted the gas market. And this process has provided all market participants with absolutely equal and transparent rules. Owing to this, on the eve of the heating season, Naftogaz purchased over 700 million cm of natural gas on the exchange for an amount exceeding UAH 9.2 billion. This allowed private producers to maintain liquidity and gradually increase their own natural gas production volumes," said the head of Naftogaz, Oleksiy Chernyshov.
