SPE section has opened in Kyiv for the first time

Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) is the largest oil and gas community, members of which amount to almost 140 000 professionals from 144 countries all around the world. Each year, the community holds more than 100 conferences, seminars, and the rest of the meetings, aimed at spreading technical knowledge regards the exploration, development, and production of hydrocarbons.

The professional section of SPE in Ukraine will allow Ukrainian oil and gas workers to get new experience, update their skills and find out more about the newest technologies used in the industry. In the nearest future, it is planned to have introductory meetings and masterclasses from leading international experts.

“Petroleum Resources Management system was created by the experts of SPE. It is successfully implemented in leading producing countries during the hydrocarbons' evaluation process, as well as for attracting investment to the industry. Ukraine’s transition to international standards regards reserves and resources assessment are waiting for a long time now. Jointly, the Association, government bodies, and MPs actively working on the implementation of PRMS in our country. I’m convinced, that opening of SPE section in Kyiv and our joint work such process will be accelerated.”, said Artem Petrenko, the Executive Director of the Association.

It will also be recalled that the SPE Eastern Europe Subsurface Conference, an international professional geological exploration conference, will be held in Ukraine for the first time on November 23-24. The opening of the SPE section in Kyiv was initiated by Naftogaz of Ukraine and supported by Ukrainian oil and gas production and service companies. Sanzhar Zharkeshov, Deputy Director of the Naftogaz Exploration and Production Division for Exploration and Development, was elected Chairman of the Kyiv SPE Section.
