NEURC increases gas transmission tariffs 4.5 times

30/12/24

Today, the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC) approved a resolution significantly increasing gas transmission tariffs for the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine (GTSOU) for both entry and exit points for the period 2025-2029.

With Russian gas transit via the Ukrainian GTS discontinued as of January 1, 2025, Ukrainian gas producers will become the primary and largest users of transmission services. This sharp tariff hike will have negative consequences for both the industry and the national economy. In particular, it will directly affect investment activity by state-owned and private companies, which may result in a decline in domestic gas production.

The Association has repeatedly addressed the Regulator and GTSOU, calling for consultations on the methodology and logic behind tariff formation. Unfortunately, no dialogue with market participants was held - a clear departure from European standards. We once again emphasize the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders, as Ukraine’s energy security depends on it.
