Nearly 300 new gas wells have been drilled in Ukraine during the full-scale war, with around 70 of them this year alone. The leader in this effort is Ukrgasvydobuvannya, while independent companies are also showing positive dynamics.
The number of new wells clearly demonstrates that producers continue to invest and are doing everything to strengthen the industry.
"The importance of Ukrainian gas today is hard to overestimate. The realities of the third year of the war show that this resource is critically needed not only for successfully getting through the winter but also for covering the electricity deficit. State companies and businesses are focusing on autonomy – gas power plants," emphasized Artem Petrenko, Executive Director of the Association, during the IV Energy Law Conference.
He noted that several companies, including Zakhidnadraservis, Ukrnafta, Ukrzaliznytsia, Epicenter, Nova Poshta, and others, have already announced plans to build their own generation facilities.
"In order for such projects to be realized and fully operational in the future, Ukraine needs to increase its own gas production. Therefore, further investment attraction, development of new fields, implementation of PSAs, and other oil and gas projects are not just strategic tasks for strengthening energy security, but also one of the crucial conditions to withstand and win this war," said the head of AGPU.
