A step forward

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has simplified procedures for repairing, restoring, and constructing facilities critical to natural gas production and connection to the gas transmission system during martial law. The relevant changes have been published on the Government Portal.

From now on, both state-owned and private companies, as well as PSA investors, will be able to expedite the restoration and commissioning of gas treatment units, pipelines, and other production and service infrastructure. This step was essential given the extensive damage caused by recent Russian attacks on the sector and the urgent need to restore critical infrastructure.

Importantly, the launch of such facilities will occur only after comprehensive equipment testing, as required by industry regulations. Within 24 months (but no later than six months after the end of martial law), companies must complete the necessary documentation and obtain commissioning certificates.

Ukrainian gas remains the cornerstone of preparations for the upcoming heating season. It is crucial that production flows uninterrupted into the GTS, underground gas storages, and ultimately reaches end-users.
