President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, has visited the Kolodnytske gas field in Stryi region of Lviv oblast', where he participated in the launch of the field and gave start to the natural gas production by lighting up a symbolic torch.
During the opening, the President has reminded that Ukraine has been on a gas "needle" for over 25 years. "Regardless of the mottos of the previous Governments, they all came and all they would talk about was the organization of the supply of the Russian gas" – the President reminded. He also mentioned that in the beginning Ukraine was able to diversify its energy supply and facilitate reverse gas supply from Europe. Today, Ukraine's main priority is the development of its natural gas upstream. "Moreover, we are not creating any monopolies by the means of state preferences. Finally, the state has turned its face to the fair and real Ukrainian investors" – the President stressed out.
